Shelby Akers has worked for the University of Kansas as an administrative assistant at the Research & Training Center on Independent Living since January of 2015. She supports the research staff in a variety of ways, helps maintain the website, handling publication orders and their dissemination, overseeing inventory, assisting with travel authorizations, reimbursement and more. Shelby also produces documents in alternate formats, like Braille.

She graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in art and minor in art history.
