Dot Nary Presents Health Information to Rolling Hawks

four wheelchair users in a room Dot Nary was invited to present information about how to prevent pressure ulcers to the Rolling Hawks, a peer support group for individuals with mobility issues.

The meeting was held at Independence, Inc., a center for independent living in Lawrence, Kansas, on May 4.

Skin breakdown is one of the most common health complications of people with spinal cord injury, causing disruption in daily routines, sometimes requiring surgery, and even resulting in death.

Nary shared current information on pressure ulcer prevention from Craig Hospital as well as information from RTC/IL’s past training projects on how people with spinal cord injury and other mobility impairments can maintain their health and wellness, and prevent conditions that limit their community participation.
